Late Bruno pen pinches points as under-fire Ruben has blind faith

UNDER-FIRE Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim admits he couldn't watch as Bruno Fernandes took the stoppage-time penalty that saved his job - for now.

All eyes were on the Red Devils after Wednesday's Carabao Cup humiliation at the hands of League Two side Grimsby plunged the club into an early-season crisis.

Amorim’s position will remain under scrutiny but United at least head into the international break on the back of their first victory of the campaign.

Asked why he turned away as Fernandes stepped up to the spot, Amorim said: “I like to see the image of the fans. What has to be has to be.

“In that moment I was thinking, ‘It would be fair to win the game.’ And I did not think Bruno would miss a second in a row.”
