Discover the health and beauty benefits of one of nature's most ancient remedies

Thank goodness for bees! Not only are they vital for pollination, they also provide us with honey.

Golden, sticky and utterly delicious, honey is far more than a kitchen staple. It's one of the oldest natural remedies, with ancient civilisations using it for healing, beauty and nourishment. In fact, some of the oldest honey in the world was discovered in King Tutankhamun's tomb, which is more than 3,000 years old.

Today, we know through science what many have instinctively understood for centuries: honey isn't just a treat, it's a wellness essential. Rich in enzymes, antioxidants and beneficial compounds, raw honey can support everything from gut health and glowing skin to brain function and immune defence.

Specialist registered dietitian Nichola Ludlam-Raine explains, "While honey is classed as a 'free sugar', it can offer some health benefits when used in small amounts. Unlike refined sugar, honey contains trace antioxidants and small amounts of vitamins and minerals. It also has antimicrobial properties, with some studies showing it may help soothe sore throats and support wound healing."
