STORM CHAOS AS AMY HITS HARD

Scots faced power cuts after wind gusts in excess of 100mph hit power supplies, transport infrastructure and damaged buildings on Friday night.

A derelict building collapsed on to a car in Glasgow's Broomielaw, leading to road closures in the city.

A roof was blown off flats in Cumbernauld and the occupants of a car had a lucky escape after a tree fell on their vehicle as it was moving in Beauly, Inverness-shire.

The Forth Road Bridge was also shut to all traffic. Yesterday, ScotRail said about 80 trees had been brought down on lines and engineers were checking routes before resuming services. All services out of Glasgow Central were suspended until at least 2pm yesterday.
