Sir Chris opens up on his wife's own MS diagnosis and hails her strength amid health shock

SIR Chris Hoy remembers the worst day of his life.

Still reeling from his terminal diagnosis, wife Sarra told him doctors had discovered she had a very aggressive form of multiple sclerosis.

"When she told us about her diagnosis, I think that was the lowest point really because things were as bad as you can imagine - and then they went even worse," he recalled.

It was a blow that would have felled most people but the Hoy family, instead, have come out fighting refusing to let any diagnosis define them.

Sir Chris said: "She has been incredibly strong and just reminds herself and myself and the family that we are lucky to have treatment. She's doing really well. She's never really been into cycling but she's been riding her bike leading up to the Tour de 4 and doing gym classes as well.

"It's a serious diagnosis she has received yet she props me up. She's the foundation of the family."
