Fire safety go-slow is 'putting lives at risk'

THE Scottish Government has failed to spend almost half of a cladding repair fund after the Grenfell disaster despite thousands of buildings remaining unsafe.

Ministers were provided with a £97million fund by Westminster five years ago to replace dangerous construction materials.

But only £11million has been used since 2020 while a further £47million has been allocated to projects which have not begun.

Liberal Democrat MSP Willie Rennie said: "It's bad enough that more than 99 per cent of potentially affected buildings haven't been fixed.
