Fergie sees Jambos brush Dons aside in title push

A LOT TO BRAGA ABOUT

THE last manager to lead a non-Old Firm side to become Scottish champions looked on from the directors’ box.

Down below in the Tynecastle dugout, Derek McInnes took another giant step to ending the 41-year wait to become the next.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in Gorgie to watch his old club Aberdeen become Hearts’ latest victims on their sensational title charge.

Claudio Braga’s first-half strike fired the leaders seven points clear of Rangers ahead of the Old Firm showdown at Ibrox today.

And like Fergie's Dons, this Hearts side are starting to disrupt the Old Firm stranglehold. Just as Tony Bloom had predicted.

They controlled this encounter and should have won by more.

Tomas Magnusson shaved the post with a header after four minutes, Alexandros Kyziridis saw a shot deflected into Dons keeper Dimitar Mitov’s arms and Braga had an angled effort saved.

Landry Kabore also raced clear of the Dons defence but sent his effort wide - all inside an opening 20 minutes.

Kabore was soon back in the good books as the Jambos streaked ahead in 27 minutes.
