Fond Farewell, Dear Sadoon

Sunday Island

He originated from the hill country; Kandy to be precise. Educated at Kingswood College he made his way to the University of Peradeniya for his tertiary education.

Fond Farewell, Dear Sadoon

There he successfully read a degree in Physical Science. Somewhere between Kingswood and Peradeniya University, Sadoon found the love of his life, Kumala. She was 15 and he was 20. They walked through life hand in hand for 58 long years. Kumala stood by his side till the fall of the last tear drop when Sadoon Muthalib whispered his final farewell to this world a few days ago. I remember their two little daughters, Shihanaz and Zana lovingly nurtured, who no doubt did their parents proud by turning out as wonderful young adults reciprocating the love lavished on them by their parents. Along with Sadoon's sons in law and grandchildren this one loving family would have sighed, cried and said goodbye to their wonderful father, when they walked behind his mortal remains to the cemetery in Melbourne. The parting would have been immensely sad, heartbreakingly so, and difficult to contend with. Such is life, the toll of the final bell and the rolling of the hearse which is certainly a common covenant to all of us.
