Starmer’s major reset’ after Just 5 months in power

SIR Keir Starmer will launch an unprecedented reset of his government this week amid continued unrest from backbenchers.

The damning indictment on Labour's first five months in power will see the Prime Minister pledge to achieve "ambitious but achievable" targets as he attempts to put his turbulent start in Number 10 behind him.

He will ask voters to judge him on "milestones" such as improving the NHS and growing the economy, in a bid to draw a line under rows such as the winter fuel payment cuts.

But many Labour MPs see the speech, dubbed a "plan for change" by Downing Street, as an admission that the Government has failed to get its message across. It comes after last week's resignation of Transport Secretary Louise Haigh, who admitted pleading guilty to fraud in 2014.
