Star Susan's bone saga brings hope to others

WHEN actress Susan Hampshire discovered she was showing the early signs of osteoporosis she was heartbroken to learn her bones already looked "like an Aero bar".
As a woman in her 40s, she had no idea she was at risk, despite having already been a patron of the Royal Osteoporosis Society for eight years.
However, the Forsyte Saga star managed to turn things around with a diet of calcium-rich foods, and weight-bearing exercise.
It means at the age of 87 her bone health is excellent and she is encouraging others to get checked.
She said: "I couldn't believe it. I was fit and healthy, I had no idea that anything was going to be wrong.
