No limits to AI benefits ...but we must control it
Sunday Express
|November 05, 2023
ARTIFICIAL Intelligence can slash NHS waiting times, revolutionise classrooms and even unlock a cure for cancer, says technology secretary Michelle Donelan.
But she warned that for the "limitless" benefits to be harnessed it is vital the dangers are also addressed.
The 39-year-old Tory rising star returned this summer from maternity leave and hopes her infant son, Noah, will grow up in a world transformed for the better by this revolution in computing power.
She hailed the success of last week's "monumental" gathering of global leaders and tech heads at Bletchley Park, the home of Britain's wartime code-breaking operations.
Participants including the US and China signed the Bletchley Declaration, which warns of the threat of "catastrophic" harm and committed them to develop "human-centric, trustworthy and responsible AI".
