SUPPORT for the Royal Family has not faltered in the wake of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, helped by the huge popularity of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Polling after he was held on suspicion of misconduct in public office found that 40% thought the country would have a worse future if the monarchy was abolished, much the same as for the past five years.
Only 24% believed it would be good for Britain.
But Mountbatten-Windsor’s personal rating slumped, with 78% holding an unfavourable impression of him.
Fewer than one in 10 felt positive.
Just 26% of those quizzed by Ipsos said the royals had handled the Mountbatten-Windsor scandal badly, against 38% saying it had managed it well.
