Military homes poison risk for thousands of our heroes

THOUSANDS of Armed Forces personnel and their families have been put at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning because vital gas safety tests were delayed.
Defence minister James Cartlidge revealed that 4,229 military homes were not certified as safe earlier this year.
By last week, the figure was down to 795, and the Ministry of Defence last night said this had now been reduced to about 600.
It pledged the backlog will be cleared by the end of this month.
Mr Cartlidge said he was informed of the scandal last month and put a "surge plan' into action. He called the situation "totally unacceptable".
