C Palace 2

That in a nutshell was the game. Palace boss Oliver Glasner (below) had the luxury of a striker in prime form leading his frontline.

Potter did not even have a striker. With Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen and Crycensio Summerville all out injured, the Hammers were desperately short of firepower.

The challenge for Potter was how to create goalscoring opportunities against a Palace side that are now unbeaten in their last eight top-flight away games.

Despite winger Mohammed Kudus energetically leading the line, it was not a problem the hosts solved as they failed to register a shot on target.

Our children must get to ‘breathe in the countryside’

THE 1960s and 70s saw an awakening of understanding about the fragility of the planet and our burgeoning urbanisation, our exploitation and erosion of the natural world around us, and our growing alienation from the countryside, farming and wildlife.
