Just one in 30 Christmas Day burglaries ends in prosecution!

THIEVES who raid homes on Christmas Day are likely to get away with it, shocking figures have revealed.
Just one in 30 burglaries carried out on the big day last year ended in arrest and prosecution, it was said.
That is about two-thirds the rate for the year as a whole, where the proportion of burglaries that end with a court appearance is around 5%.
The crime figures for last Christmas Day, uncovered in a Freedom of Information
'In a matter of minutes, their lives are turned upside down'
survey, show police forces logged almost 236 house burglaries on the day.
Of these, just eight ended with the culprit caught and charged.
Kevin Moore, a retired detective chief superintendent at Sussex Police and a former head of CID, said: “A burglary of a family home at any time is devastating. However, at Christmas time it always seems worse.
