GOAL-A-GAME ERLING HITS ALL RIGHT NOTES
WHEN Erling Haaland plays in the Premier League, he scores. That’s official.
The prolific Norwegian’s top-flight stats now read 70 goals from 69 games after his hat-trick yesterday maintained Manchester City’s perfect start to their latest title defence.
While sinking the Hammers, Haaland banished Pep Guardiola’s worries – for the time being – that they may miss departed super-sub striker Julien Alvarez.
Certainly, seven goals in three wins, including two trebles, suggests the world’s deadliest finisher can carry the burden alone.
City may not have got past third gear yet but they still look too good for the majority of the English elite.
They have not dropped any points since March 31, winning their last 12 on the bounce.
West Ham appear vastly improved under Julen Lopetegui. However, despite occasional good spells, they eventually fell short of what it takes to topple Guardiola’s side.
The transfer window closed with no statement signing by City. Indeed, their only statement was one confirming there would be no last-ditch business.
