CARR'S IN FINE SHAPE

United boss is ready to take it up a gear but insists his previous win over Arsenal at The Emirates means nothing

MICHAEL CARRICK has every reason to feel confident ahead of today's showdown with Arsenal.

The Manchester United interim boss kicked off his reign in perfect style with a stunning derby win over rivals Manchester City last weekend.

While Carrick would have been delighted with the 2-0 victory, the nature of his side's performance was equally impressive as the Red Devils bombarded City’s goal.

So it is little wonder that he won't bother looking back at the last time he managed United against the Gunners.

Carrick served as United caretaker for three games when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was let go in November 2021 and left the position with an undefeated record - which included a 3-2 victory against Arsenal.

But ahead of facing Mikel Artetas men once again this afternoon, the former Middlesbrough boss says he does not believe that previous clash is relevant.
