Brrr...itain to be colder than Iceland

BRITAIN will be colder than Iceland as freezing weather arrives today, bringing snow chaos and temperatures below -12C in some areas.

But as the frost bites, so does the cost of living, with many people planning to lower their heating and some even preparing to turn it off.

Some 2,000 gritters are on standby as up to four inches of snow is due in Scotland today, with up to two inches near the west and east coasts of Britain tomorrow.

A heavier snowfall is set to hit the North on Tuesday, with the South flirting with a band of snow due over the English Channel on Wednesday. More falls are expected next weekend.
