Cheika in ref rant as rivals land title

BATH'S BRINGS GLORIOUS TREBLE

BATH ended a 29-year wait for Premiership glory and clinched the third leg of the treble into the bargain - but they had Tigers snapping at their heels all the way.

Fly-half Finn Russell pulled the strings and his interception set up a crucial try for Max Ojomoh as Bath held off Leicester’s late push.

But departing Tigers boss Michael Cheika branded referee Karl Dickson an embarrassment as his leaving party was ruined in a Twickenham defeat.

His side were in the fight to the end but got no change from Dickson at scrum-time - where Nicky Smith was outstanding - and saw Dan Cole harshly yellowed with 11 minutes to go.

Cole (below), in his final professional game, was carded for a late challenge on Russell but looked like he was trying to pull out of the tackle. The referee, though, showed no mercy.

And Cheika will be taking up Dickson’s officiating with the RFU’s head of referees Paul Hull early next week.

Cheika said: “In the scrums we were dominating completely. Two men in the bin, second one for nothing.
