Semenyo steals it as mindless boos mar Ramadan stoppage
PEP GUARDIOLA told his Manchester City stars to indulge in some cocktails during the break he gave them ahead of this trip to Leeds.
But champagne was the drink of choice last night to celebrate a seismic win that must have left Daniel Farke's men feeling shaken and stirred at Elland Road.
Leeds ran City ragged for large spells of this game - only to finish second best. The hosts missed numerous chances to put Guardiola's men to the sword, before Antoine Semenyo grabbed the only one that came his way.
The City ace's close-range finish in first-half stoppage time proved to be the winner, to help his side close the gap on league leaders Arsenal to just two points, ahead of the leaders' crunch showdown with Chelsea today.
And his sixth strike since joining the club also helped City have the last laugh on Leeds fans who chose to boo the break for Ramadan, for those Muslim players in the visiting team.
Farke knew he had his work cut out, considering he was up against someone he described as "the best manager in the world".
