Training empowers local recovery workforce

This past week, local stakeholders in the recovery sector benefited from training, facilitated by Warren Cornelius at Thusong Centre.

The training was aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge, values and practical skills necessary to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders (SUDs).

Research affirms the impact of peer recovery support across several domains, including reduced substance use.

Recovery is more than simply stopping substance use, it is a lifelong journey of learning to live well and solve problems without the use of alcohol or drugs. For many, long-term, peer-based support is critical to sustaining this journey.

Peer-based recovery support is a powerful model grounded in nonprofessional, nonclinical assistance offered by individuals with lived experience.
