'I've come round to the idea – and of course the people and the mission are the same'

WHEN I first heard of the plans to change the name of St Ann's Hospice to Moya Cole Hospice, I was overwhelmed with emotion.

My connection to the hospice in Heald Green runs deep - my husband Stephen died here a few years ago, and now I volunteer at the hospice every week.

I was informed in a meeting for staff and volunteers. I felt a bit uncomfortable about the change, but I could understand all the reasons why they were changing.

Even though they were telling us the reasons, I just couldn’t get my head around why, I didn’t see the reason why they had to do it.

After the meeting, in a more informal setting, I expressed my feelings of unhappiness.
