Green's batting prowess proves key

ON Saturday, the Green made the journey to Over Peover in the hope of a full game, weather permitting.

On winning the toss, skipper Dylan Heginbotham elected to bat with Josh Hampson and Lewis Clarke opening the innings, facing the Peover attack led by Jones and Paliwal. It was the latter who struck when Clarke was adjudged lbw for 3, 27-1.

Next to the crease was skipper Heginbotham and he soon found his stride as he struck an elegant 41 including four maximums.

His batting really is very pleasing on the eye and in Hampson he had the perfect foil, the pair taking the score to 93 when Heginbotham was bowled by Beardsworth for 41.

Next-in Sam Messih is normally a free flowing batsman who has been in good form of late, but, whilst striking some superb shots, he played sensibly hoping to take the Green to a match winning total. With the score on 111 Hampson finally succumbed, caught Dooley bowled Suryavanshi for a very patient 41.
