Chance to have say on town vision

STOCKPORT Council and the GM Mayor want residents to help shape the bold new vision for the east of Stockport town centre

A public consultation is now open on plans to guide the next phase of regeneration in the east of the centre.

At the same time, feedback is being sought on proposals to expand the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation's boundary to help deliver this vision.

The plans include up to 8,000 new homes over the next 15 years, a new secondary school, a modern hospital, and improved green spaces and public areas.

People can share their views online or in person, with the consultation running until midnight on Thursday 26 June.

Stockport Council and the Mayor of Greater Manchester are keen to ensure that the local community is involved in shaping the shared plans, telling them what's important to you and how they can help make Stockport an even better place to live and work.

The proposed Strategic Regeneration Framework - a plan for what will be built, where, and how it will deliver for the people of Stockport - outlines the delivery of at least 4,000 new homes to suit all lifestyles and budgets, supported by essential social infrastructure such as a new school and town centre hospital, all located within a network of green, people-friendly, connected neighbourhoods.

Under the new proposals, the next phase of Stockport's regeneration would be delivered through an expansion of the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) boundary.
