Sun welcome but please take care

It has been one of the warmest Aprils on record in Scotland.

While the sunshine has been a welcome chance to enjoy the outdoors, it's also brought timely reminders about staying safe in our changing climate. Warmer, drier springs and more extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common.

In parts of Stirling, we've seen wildfires, especially in rural and upland areas where the ground has become unusually dry. Our fire and rescue services have responded superbly, as always. But prevention is something we can all support. If you're out walking, camping, or enjoying the countryside, avoid lighting fires or using disposable barbecues in grassy or wooded areas. If you see smoke or flames, call 999 immediately.

As the weather improves, many of us are drawn to our lochs, hills, and rivers. Loch Lomond, Loch Katrine, and the wider National Park offer some of Scotland's most stunning scenery, but they demand caution and respect.

If you're heading into the hills, remember it's often colder, windier, and more exposed at the top. Be prepared for harsh weather and do not rely solely on a mobile phone.
