Parking and footfall concerns in Bridge of Allan have been raised by a councillor following the unveiling of proposals for a new 'active travel route' across Stirling.

Parking concerns over new route plan

The route, which is designed to increase access between the areas for walking, wheeling and cycling, will be completed in two separate phases.

The first phase of the project will connect Bridge of Allan (at the junction of Keir Street and Fountain Road) with the Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling infrastructure on Airthrey Road (at the Hillfoots Road junction) near the University of Stirling. Meanwhile, phase two will connect Bridge of Allan to Dunblane via the A9 and B8033 as far as the Dunblane Centre roundabout.

However, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane councillor Thomas Heald has raised questions over the suitability and impact of the plans on the town's Keir Street and Henderson Street.

Cllr Heald said: "I would like to place on record my thanks for the approach that Stirling Council have taken to engaging with residents ahead of construction taking place and I encourage all residents to please engage with them with any concerns.
