DM Reasi calls for stepping up anti-drug measures

A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) was convened on Wednesday under the chairpersonship of District Magistrate Reasi Nidhi Malik here at the DC Office Complex. The meeting aimed to formulate a comprehensive strategy to combat the menace of drug abuse in the district.

The DM reviewed key aspects, including bails and acquittals in NDPS cases, seizures of drugs in commercial quantities, and the adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in handling such cases. She emphasized the need for a multi-pronged approach focusing on enforcement, treatment, and awareness to effectively tackle the drug menace.

The DM emphasized the need to intensify actions against drug abuse and trafficking. Special focus was laid on monitoring and eliminating poppy cultivation. She instructed the local police to identify hotspots where drug peddling and addiction are prevalent and take strict action against offenders.
