Union demands health secretary tackle pharmacy chain problems

A UNION has called for the Welsh Government to intervene as problems plague a chain of pharmacies.

As reported in last Tuesday's Echo, Jhoots staff say they are owed months of pay without explanation and have been threatened with disciplinary action if they do not turn up for work.

The chain has 153 pharmacies across the UK including six in Wales - in Cardiff, Risca, Caerphilly, Bridgend, Swansea and Aberystwyth - and many are reported to be battling crises including long-delayed wages, inadequate stock and unexplained closures.

Now, the Pharmacists Defence Association (PDA) union has told the Echo that Health Secretary Jeremy Miles should step in.
