LEGG'S UP FOR FINAL EXAM
South Wales Evening Post
|February 23, 2026
BARRY Town United warmed up for their Nathaniel MG Cup final on Saturday with the The New Saints by beating Connah's Quay Nomads 1-0 at Jenner Park in the JD Cymru Premier.
-
The Nomads headed south boasting a 17-match unbeaten run, but they were undone by Ollie Hulbert's 17th goal of the season in all competitions.
Hulbert headed home a Mike George cross from the right to win the game in the 90th minute.
"We will prepare as normal this week for the final," said Barry boss Andy Legg.
"We know TNS will be the favourites - they seem to win this cup every year. We have got to go into the game with our sleeves rolled up and ready to give it our best shot.
"I thought we deserved our win over the Nomads and it was always one goal that was going to decide it,"
The Nomads' first league defeat since September meant they fell further behind TNS in the title race. With six games to go they are now 15 points adrift, although they have a 10-point cushion over third-placed Penybont in the battle for the second automatic spot in Europe next season.
