Hope poverty hub will help more families
South Wales Evening Post
|November 19, 2025
QUESTIONS have been raised over the time it is taking to bring a new Swansea multibank scheme to those in need in neighbouring areas.
Earlier this year, councillors in Carmarthenshire were united in backing a motion to explore whether the successful Swansea poverty bank could be expanded into the county.
They believed that if the city’s Cwtch Mawr Multibank, which launched last year, was to branch out to Carmarthenshire it would help those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Multibanks have already been rolled out across different parts of the UK and play a critical role in directing surplus goods - including clothes, bedding and furniture to those most in need.
Cwtch Mawr is Wales’ first Multi-bank a community donations hub offering support for families experiencing poverty across Swansea.
It provides surplus essentials, such as warm clothes, hygiene products, school uniforms, and bedding donated by businesses, like Amazon, directly to those in need.
