SKEWEN have emerged as the main dangers to leaders Maesteg in the battle for the South Wales Cricket Association division one title.

Conrath’s fluent knock keeps Skewen as main challengers

Skewen moved into second thanks to their excellent 228-run win at Baglan.

The Skewen batters were in fine shape. Johan Conrath continued his rich vein of form with 93, with Bentota Perera chipping in with a breezy 83 that featured seven boundaries and five sixes.

Opener Rhodri Jones added 50 as the visitors were all out for 275.

Baglan’s reply never got out of first gear as they were dismissed for just 47 in 16 overs.

Maesteg, meanwhile, won by four wickets at Briton Ferry Town.

The home side were all out for 150. Maesteg made it to their target in the 40th over of their reply with opener Matthew Rogers making 72.

Gorseinon’s title challenge suffered a major setback when they lost by three wickets at Llandysul to drop to third in the table.

The visitors batted first, but their usually reliable top order faltered as they were all out for 174. Tharindu Karunarathna top-scored with 38 and Zaid Khan took three wickets.

The Teifi Valley side's reply was held together by an excellent 73 from opener Chris Strange and Gary Williams added a crucial unbeaten 29. John Mann took 3-22 for Gors, but it wasn't enough as the hosts won with more than 12 overs in hand.

Bronwydd routed struggling Gowerton by 153 runs.
