'How pork scratchings left me ill for a year'

Ruanda Davis was one of more than 100 people who reported becoming unwell after eating Mr Porky pork scratchings in 2021

(IRWIN MITCHELL)

Ruanda Davis, from Cardiff, was one of more than 100 people who reported becoming unwell after eating Mr Porky pork scratchings in 2021.

Mr Porky products, made by Tayto Group Ltd in a factory in Bolton, were recalled in September 2021 after 179 people were reported to have suffered diarrhoea, vomiting, and fever following consumption in a UK-wide food poisoning outbreak.

Ruanda, 64, became severely ill with salmonella after consuming Mr Porky pork scratchings in June 2021. She said she had never been "so ill" in her life, adding the incident still affects her to this day.
