A South Shields playwright is marking the centenary of the 1926 General Strike.

Ed Waugh is set to bring two shows to stages in the North East next year.
The nine-day period of strike action took place from May 4 to May 12, 1926, as the General Council of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) unsuccessfully attempted to force the government to prevent wage reductions and worsening conditions for 1.2million coal miners.
