Ian happy with Shields' response after setbacks

South Shields manager Ian Watson believes his side have proven a point after bouncing back from successive defeats with a stunning win at National League North promotion rivals AFC Fylde.

The Mariners fell to their first league defeat of the season recently when they emerged empty handed from their trip to Macclesfield before they were sent out of the FA Cup with a first round home defeat against League Two side Shrewsbury Town.
However, after some hard work on the training pitch and some messages being hammered home by Watson and his coaching staff, the Mariners returned to winning ways as Cedwyn Scott, Oliver Bainbridge and Caden Kelly all scored in a 4-2 win at Fylde.
That saw Watson's side leapfrog their hosts to top the National League North table once again as their focus now turns towards Saturday's home clash with King's Lynn Town.
