The big story of the next seven days

Chip-chip-hooray! Let's hear it for favourite dish

From crinkle cut and thin French fries to thrice-cooked and with-skins-on, with or without tomato sauce, chips are a favourite in households across the country.

Whether you like yours in a butty or with haddock or cod, National Chip Week, runs until Thursday, is a great excuse to enjoy fried - or oven-cooked, potatoes.

National Chip Week, started in the 1990s, is one of the Potato Council's biggest annual awareness campaigns and aims to promote the benefits, and dispel the myths, of eating chips as part of a balanced diet.
