Bills set to increase after water firm wins its regulator appeal

Northumbrian Water has been given the go-ahead to increase bills by an extra one per cent after an appeal to the industry watchdog.

The water supplier is one of five firms being allowed to increase prices by more than previously granted by regulator Ofwat.
Northumbrian Water argued that Ofwat’s original decision left them unable to meet the regulatory requirements set for them.
