A CYCLING-MAD 56-year-old will spend 24 hours in the saddle this weekend, as he climbs way above the height of Everest.

Everest and beyond... Paul's 24-hour riding challenge for charity

Paul Clark is hoping residents will come out to support him as he completes 300 loops up and down Stock Hill in Biggin Hill.

He is planning to complete 15,000 metres of climbing - way above the peak of Mount Everest at 8,849 metres - with each ascent of the hill ticking off 50 metres.

Paul, a kitchen fitter from the town, is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for local cancer charity The Chartwell Cancer Trust in the process.

He is already quite familiar with the 900-metre loop, having completed it 239 times when he last attempted the 24-hour 'Everesting' challenge in between lockdowns in 2020.

"I try and do something every five years for the Chartwell Cancer Trust, because my brother's a patron and I know lots of people who have been cared for by them, it's a great charity," he said.
