Safety cordon after discovery of 'explosive'

A 100M exclusion zone was issued around a “suspected explosive" in Scunthorpe last week, police said.

It was discovered at around noon on Wednesday, June 25, in Winterton Road.

Humberside Police said earlier they were waiting for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) to arrive at the scene.

The EOD safely removed the item, which was found not to be an explosive. However, police said it was a “call in good intent" and would always encourage members of the public to report anything suspicious.
