FOUR-YEAR HEARING DELAY GAVE HIM THE CHANCE TO TURN HIS LIFE AROUND
TWO plain clothed police officers spotted a drug deal on the streets of Scunthorpe involving a notorious criminal with 146 offences under his belt.
Andrew Dean tried to run away from a police officer when he was arrested. But he was later found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine and £300 in cash.
Dean, 54, of Argyll Court, Scunthorpe, admitted possession with intent to supply Class A drugs when he appeared at Grimsby Crown Court.
There was no explanation given in court why the offence - committed on January 3, 2021, took more than four years to come to a sentencing hearing at court. But it gave the defendant time to rid himself of his addiction and end a life of crime to fund his habit, the court heard.
