Why troops are turning to religion

SOLDIERS are increasingly turning to religion to cope with the dangers they face around the world, according to chaplains.

Army padres, who provide spiritual and pastoral care, have reported an increase of interest from troops aged 16 to 28, part of the Generation Z age group.

Chaplain General Rev Canon Michael Parker said: "We are certainly starting to see an uptick, and Gen Z - often generalised as sceptical and transactional - are using more spiritual language in the way they talk about the world.
