Raise wages to get MSPs 'able' to do the job

A POLITICAL pundit and former Scottish Conservatives press officer has claimed the only way to boost public support for the Scottish Parliament is by paying MSPs more.

But nearly two decades of SNP control has led to a growing number of people who would abolish Holyrood. Recent scandals, including Angela Constance surviving a vote of no confidence and Maggie Chapman dodging punishment despite calling the judiciary "bigoted", have not helped.

According to the latest Scottish Social Attitudes (SSA) survey, the proportion of Scots who trust the Scottish Government to work in Scotland's best interests fell below 50% for the first time.

Analysis suggest 9% would get rid of Holyrood. The most recent data suggests there are just under 4.3million able to vote in Scotland, inferring 385,000 would support closure.
