Japanese finger food batters the vol-au-vent

KATSU bao buns and teriyaki skewers have replaced cocktail sausages and prawn rings as the party food of choice for many in the festive season.

Retailers have reported a huge rise in demand for Japanese, Thai and Korean finger food at the expense of traditional bites like mini-quiches and vol-au-vents.

And Gen Z, those people aged 18 to 28, are fuelling the switch to East Asian delicacies.
