Follow EU's new border rules...or get sent home!

BRITS visiting Europe were warned they could be sent straight home if they refuse to provide fingerprints or allow their child's photo to be stored, under rules coming into force today.

Visitors to most European nations will have to provide biometric data under a new EU entry-exit system. Under-12s won't be fingerprinted but all travellers, including babies, will be photographed, with digital records stored on an EU-wide digital Biometric Matching Service.

The Home Office issued a blunt caution that failing to comply could mean being denied entry when the system begins at some airports today, although it is not due to be fully rolled out across Europe until April.
