Weather's cool for Queen but... welcome's warm

QUEEN Camilla hedged her bets with the weather yesterday as she celebrated nature and social connection at a city waterfront oasis.

Donning a mac, the royal, at her first Big Lunch as Queen, met “fairy folk” moss people, saw incredible cakes and joked about the conditions at Canary Wharf’s new Eden Dock in East London.

The Queen, 77, said of the biodiverse space featuring floating islands and humanoid sculptures: “It’s extraordinary.”

The dock, which opened in October, was developed by the Eden Project charity and Canary Wharf Group (CWG).

CWG chairman Sir Nigel Wilson told Camilla he recently saw her Coronation portrait at the National Gallery, adding: “It is fantastic - much better than Charles.”
