'We are Russia's next target...we're already in harm's way'

EUROPE is Russia's "next target" and must be "prepared for the scale of war our grandparents endured", Nato's chief warned yesterday.

Mark Rutte urged members to increase defence spending to deter Vladimir Putin as talks on ending the brutal war in Ukraine continue.

The Nato secretary general said: "We need to be crystal clear about the threat. We are Russia's next target, and we are already in harm's way.

"Too many believe that time is on our side. It is not, the time for action is now." He warned that Moscow could be "ready to use military force against Nato within five years".
