Warning of tax rises if reforms get scaled back

SCALING back Sir Keir Starmer's welfare reforms will force the Government to raise taxes or find savings elsewhere, experts have warned.

The original welfare package, which included changes to Universal Credit, was meant to save the Treasury £4.6billion by the year 2029-30.

But the saving would be reduced to just £3.1billion if all current PIP claimants are unaffected, according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
