Boss tells tribunal of offers made to Sandie Peggie after breakdown of work relations
SANDIE Peggie was told by NHS Fife she should move to another hospital or change her shift pattern if she wanted to return to work in order to avoid Dr Beth Upton.
And she was also branded “racist” and “homophobic” by senior staff at Victoria Hospital despite no evidence being provided.
The nurse's employment tribunal continued yesterday with Lottie Miles, service manager at the health board, giving evidence. The beginning of proceedings were delayed as NHS Fife's bizarre public statement was understood to have been discussed.
It accused campaign group Sex Matters of steering public opinion in favour of Ms Peggie and implied this was behind threats which are said to have been made against members of NHS Fife staff.
Bosses changed this statement repeatedly on Friday to remove some of the potentially libellous accusations.
Ms Miles was questioned by NHS Fife's counsel Jane Russell during the morning session where the disciplinary proceedings against Ms Peggie were discussed.
She was suspended from work after confronting transgender Dr Beth Upton for using the women's changing rooms.
