Trucker killed pregnant nurse on hard shoulder of M8

A LORRY driver killed a heavily pregnant nurse in a horror motorway morning crash.

Trevor Norgate was behind the wheel as his HGV drifted on to the hard shoulder where Evelyn Brown had stopped in her car.

Footage of the smash on the M8 outside Edinburgh was captured on Norgate's dashcam.

Fundraiser

Miss Brown - known as Eve - who was 41, passed away from her injuries. She was 34 weeks pregnant and her unborn baby tragically did not survive.

Miss Brown was killed on Monday, December 18, 2023, just days after being photographed at her baby shower proudly showing off her bump.

A fundraiser later set up in her name quickly raised thousands of pounds to help her family.

Prosecutors stated Norgate, 58, had "allowed himself to become distracted" before the crash but it is not known how. He appeared in the dock at Glasgow High Court yesterday where he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
