Statue to Vera Lynn 'has PM's support'

SIR Keir Starmer has backed a new statue of Dame Vera Lynn at Dover, whose cliffs the wartime singer famously celebrated.

The Dame Vera Lynn Memorial Statue Fund has reportedly had discussions with the local authority about a site on Marine Parade.

So far more than £1million has been raised for the memorial, which is expected to cost £1.5million.
