A WETTER autumn than usual is set to follow the UK’s warmest summer on record as the La Nina phenomenon is likely to turn the world’s climate on its head.
The oceanic and atmospheric event, which is the flipside of the warming El Nino, involves a cooling of the sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean.
There is a 55% chance La Nina will impact weather from now onwards, according to the World Meteorological Organisation.
