Scottish Tories' pledge to reduce income tax

Russell Findlay compared Swinney to 'Boa Constrictor'

Scots would save up to £718 a year under Scottish Tory plans to end the “stealth tax” implemented by the SNP and Labour governments.Leader Russell Findlay yesterday set his stall out for the upcoming Holyrood election which he said would be about the cost-of-living crisis.

With John Swinney peddling “hope” while trying to boast about improving the NHS, education and poverty after 19 years of decline under the SNP and Anas Sarwar adopting the “underdog” tag as he looks to unseat the First Minister, the Scottish Conservatives are pushing for reduced income tax.

The SNP Government has created an extensive and complicated system where the majority of working Scots pay more into the public purse than their English, Welsh and Northern Irish counterparts. Anyone earning over £30,318 pays more income tax than they would if they lived elsewhere in the UK.
